How to Volunteer

Volunteer with the Idaho Diaper Bank

Volunteers are the heart of the Idaho Diaper Bank. Every diaper that reaches a family in need is counted, bundled, and prepared by caring community members who give their time to support babies and families across Idaho.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Idaho Diaper Bank. Our volunteers play a critical role in helping us distribute diapers to families across Idaho. Whether you’re an individual, small group, or corporate team, volunteering with us is a fun and meaningful way to make an immediate impact in our community.

What Volunteers Do

Most volunteer opportunities at the Idaho Diaper Bank involve diaper bundling events at our warehouse.

During a bundling session, volunteers help prepare diapers for distribution by:

  • Counting groups of 25 diapers
  • Wrapping them into bundles
  • Securing the bundle with a sticker

These bundled diapers are then distributed through our network of partner agencies that serve families throughout Idaho.

The process is simple, fast-paced, and a great team-building activity. Most groups are amazed at how many diapers they are able to bundle in a short amount of time.

Group Size

We typically host groups of 20–40 volunteers at a time.

Volunteer groups often include:

  • Corporate teams
  • Community organizations
  • Service clubs
  • Churches
  • Schools
  • Leadership groups

Age Requirements

For safety reasons, volunteers should generally be 10 years or older to participate in warehouse bundling events.

  • Volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult
  • Some volunteer opportunities may be better suited for adult groups depending on warehouse activity
  • If your group includes younger volunteers, please let us know in advance so we can determine the best fit

Time Commitment

Most volunteer sessions last 1–2 hours.

This includes a brief overview of the Idaho Diaper Bank and instructions for the bundling process before volunteers begin.

Scheduling a Volunteer Event

Volunteer events are scheduled in advance and our calendar fills quickly.

If you are interested in volunteering with a group, please contact us with:

  • Your group size
  • A preferred day or time
  • Whether your group is available during the day, evenings, or weekends

We are often able to accommodate evening and weekend groups.

Once we receive your request, we will work with you to find the next available date.

Individual Volunteers

If you do not have a large group to bring in, we occasionally post pop-up volunteer opportunities through JustServe.

We recommend creating a JustServe account and watching for volunteer opportunities at the Idaho Diaper Bank warehouse.

These pop-up events allow individuals or small groups to join a bundling session when space is available.

Hosting a Diaper Bundling Event at Your Location

We occasionally receive requests to bring diapers to outside events for bundling. At this time, we are not able to transport diapers to off-site locations for bundling events.

However, we are happy to support your event in other ways. If your organization would like to host a diaper bundling activity, your group can purchase or collect the diapers to be bundled through a diaper drive or donation.

We are happy to attend your event and provide the necessary supplies such as bundling stickers and saran wrap, as well as instructions for the bundling process.

This is a great option for organizations that want to incorporate a diaper drive and service activity into an existing event while directly supporting families in our community.

Supporting Your Volunteer Event

Many groups choose to pair their volunteer experience with a diaper donation or diaper drive. This is a wonderful way to increase the impact of your service project.

Organizations often choose to:

  • Collect diapers ahead of their volunteer event
    • Host a diaper drive within their company or organization
    • Sponsor diapers that their team will bundle during the event

If your group is interested in incorporating a diaper drive or donation into your volunteer experience, we would be happy to provide guidance on how to get started.

Many corporate teams choose to sponsor the diapers their group bundles, allowing their volunteer time to directly translate into diapers distributed to families in Idaho.

Volunteer Waiver

All volunteers must complete a waiver before participating.

Please complete the waiver using the sign-up link provided when your volunteer event is scheduled.

What to Wear

Our warehouse environment is casual. We recommend:

  • Comfortable clothing
  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Layers depending on the season

You may also want to bring a water bottle.
